ONE YEAR ON...

Yes!! It is the first anniversary of the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai. In this past one year quite a lot of things have changed in our country and its all for the good.The first in the list being India is no longer resilient. There has not been a single terror strike (of course excluding the attacks by ULFA and the naxals) in this past one year, the intelligence system of our country has improved the Govt. has finally decided to meet the demands of the armed forces' demands on their pay (truly!! they are the most deserving) and a whole lot of other things have also changed and I am proud of it.

Things have changed drastically in the past one year and before 26/11 there have been numerous terror strikes that hit various parts of our country, various serial blasts killing many people across various cities including some of the most developed. Yet these attacks could not be stopped nor was there any single prior information available or if at all information was available, no action was taken based on the data received.

But today things are a whole lot different. If all this change has to be attributed to one single cause, it has to be the changing the Home Minister of our country from Mr. Shivraj Patel, who apparently lost the 2004 general elections and still made the HOME MINISTER of our country to Mr. P. Chidambharam, who has done a pretty good job (rather an excellent job) thus far, I would say "Chidambharam is a better Home Minister than a Finance Minister".

Change is here today, if this change was available a year back, such an incident would never have occurred. But, it all happened and many lost their dear ones. I would like to stand-by those who lost their dear ones and convey my solidarity to them at the first anniversary. I wish all of you people can also join me. May their souls rest in peace.

In the last post that i had written, that i was back and i seemed to have disappeared yet again. It was almost a month back that i had written my previous post and nothing before today... close to 5 posts saved as draft but nothing published. But, why?

GUESS I' M BACK

Work has indeed been very hectic off late and as days run out, it is only getting more and more hectic. Consequently, i wanted to take a break from blogging and thought i would get back later. But, certainly reduce the frequency of myself writing new blog posts (after all, making a commitment and not keeping up with it is never good!!!). So, i guess I'm finally back. But not sure how long this is going to last, as my company is planning to launch a new product very soon (in less than a month's time) and all of us are gearing up for that.

In the last few posts that i had written, I wrote a lot about google, SEO , Page Ranks etc. but none of these posts seem to have an impact on my page rank. It still continues to be 1 on 10. Guess i have been tricked by a write up i saw on the web that said write more about SEO and google to improve traffic and PR also.

Of course, i have changed the layout of my blog once again. Do leave your comment on the new template.

AT THE RIGHT TIME

Ever since the 50th post was published on my blog, I wanted to take a break from blogging for sometime. The reasons being four fold. First, my job getting the better of me (really hectic I must say) and my time (over the last one week, I have been returning home only post 7 in the evening). Second, not able to find enough time to allocate for my GATE prep. I thought, by reducing the time I spent on blogging, I would be able to find more time for my GATE prep. Next, the last one week or so has been a very low key affair on my blog. The comments that I have received have been very few. Zero, in many posts in fact. This was kind of demoralizing. Finally, I want to write about a few incidents and want to give my best in them. But when I do start writing, words fail me. This could have very well been noticed by the regular readers of my blog, I only wrote fillers repeatedly for a few days on my blog, nothing more.

When all this was going on my mind, I suddenly had a new reader reach out to me through gmail and the contact that I have given and I made a new friend :). Then after sometime, I had a comment on two of my blog posts (almost a week after I had published the posts) and real good ones I must say. Again by a stranger. And many more friends have told me through IMs that my blog is going really good. So, I guess I will carry on for some more time before I actually take a break.

Well, all this happened just at the right moment... so that I will carry on for now...

A MISTAKE OF SORTS?

The Govt. run at the center by the UPA under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh, has always been under the scrutiny when it comes to foreign policy matters. Right from the time of Mr. Natwar Singh to Mr. Pranab Mukarjee to Mr. S.M. Krishna now. This govt has misserably failed in framing its foriegn policy and repeatedly taking a beating on a day to day basis. During this session of parliment alone the opposition has staged a walkout twice just to show their dissapoinment with the govt for its misserable handling of various foriegn policy issues.

The biggest missery of them all is the Indo - US nuke dela, this still comes by every now and then to haunt the Congress led Govt. Recently at the G8 summit, it was pronounced that India should sign the CTBT and the NPT before the G8 community could actually have a commercial nuke treaty for civilian purposes. Our rights sacrificed? But when the USA secretary of state, Mrs. Hillary Clinton made her trip down to India, she said in interview after interview that the USA cannot ask the Indian Govt. to sign the CTBT unless they sign it themselves first (finally they have realised it I guess!!!). Only good out of this episode, the opposition seems to be scoring points.

Next, The Indo-Pak joint statement at Egypt. Reports say, the secretary level talks failed and in a hurry te Prime Ministers of the two coutries were desperate to give a joint statement and the Indians let the word Baluchistan feature in the joint statement leading to hell a lot of trouble for the Govt. The Pakistan media reports now claim that the Pakistan govt. has credible evidance of India directly supporting the Balooch terrorists. Of course immediately dismissed by the MEA, India as mere allegations. But the hard reality, has India been ambushed on the Balooch issue? Only time will answer.

My question is, why was Manmohan Singh so desperate in having S.M. Krishna as the External Affairs Minister? Of course the Prime Minister is also to be equally blamed for the above two incidents. Still, was Manmohan Singh desperate enough in having a failed Chief Minister of Karnataka at such a key portfolio? Or, was it the decision of the Congress supremo? Answering to the question of whether Dr. Manmohan Singh is a WEAK Prime Minister.

Its time I thank google for the recognition it has given to this blog. I was just going over the feedjit live traffic for my blog and I found out someone had entered my blog based on their searches on google. I tried to find out where my blog stands on the google search and guess wat for the search on "FIRST SALARY" on google blogs search, this was the result. Can't believe it is it? its true, my blog post on "MY FIRST SALARY", stands first on the search. WOW!!!! Was i not happy?!!!!

Also I found from my feedjit showed that my post on "FACEBOOK GAMES" had a hit by a search on google. For the search query on "quiz engineer facebook" on google blogs search, my post appeared within the top 20 search results. It can be viewed here.

LIFE IS UNFAIR! GOD IS FAIR…

As said earlier, this happens to be my 50th blog post and the surprise is I have let one of my closest friend from college write a guest post and here it is.....

I love this topic because I believe in it. I have the habit of thanking god every night for that particular day and will feel happy that he guided me throughout the day. But when in bed, will realize that I did not have a satisfying day. I guess that’s what each one of us will feel. So do you think god designed a bad day for you in spite of knowing that you needed a better one?

This is the question that hits me hard whenever I think about it. I would never answer it because I would never want to. From my early age, I was told that god is your light. It was the first lesson my mom taught and I will never forget that. I still remember the night I walked in the dark, from my bedroom to the washroom. The distance might have been less but it was that belief I have in him which is taking me through the darkest days of my life.

There must be an answer to that question if I believed in god la? So how do I answer that? I framed an answer saying “LIFE IS UNFAIR! GOD IS FAIR”

I have had a beautiful life in spite of life changing moments. But I can bet that my sad moments are jus a hand full when compared to the happiness that I derive. If you think there is a secret behind it, then you are wrong. It is jus because that I believe in myself and in god. My god may be belief, but yours can be jus an idol or nature or whatever you think it is.

If god has designed a bad day for you, it means that he has a better one the following day. You may not realize his presence when everything is going on fine but you will feel his absence when something is wrong. The amazing thing is when you realize that he is there all time with you. This would have been the moral of every bed time story. It was long time back na? Yes, we all are too old for these stories but one cannot run without knowing to walk. Basics are basics.. do not ignore them.

Recollecting few moments in my life, I would tell you all, that life is simple and it is in our hands to make it simpler. I have had bad days but there was a mom to hold my hands and say that I was the best, there was a dad to provide wings to my dreams, and there were friends for everything. That’s how life is, beautiful. One can never have a bad day because there is no black without the white in it. See the positive.

Life is yours but you are HIS

WHAT HAVE I DONE?!!

Last night, I was watching a program on NDTV. The program was about remembering our soldiers for their sacrifices ten years ago during the Kargil war. As a part of the show, they showed one of the mothers' whose son was at the army during the battle, she read out a letter (the last letter) written to her by her son.

The letter went something like this, "By the time you are reading this letter, I will be up in the skies watching you". The letter goes on to say a few other things as well. Then, the letter goes on to say, "You should probably come over and see the place from where we fought to kep the India of tomorrow safe". These two lines of the letter touched me and made me realise the fact that the men in the Army without any expectations from the country go all the way to the extent of even sacrificing their lives. But, we people living in big cities do not even act responsible enough and we say "what has this country given me, for me to give back something?". In fact the country has only taken the lives of the army men and they willingly give their lives. The letter concldes by saying, "IF AT ALL THERE WAS ANOTHER LIFE, I WOULD WANT TO SERVE THE ARMY OF MY NATION ONCE AGAIN". This gave me goosebumbs.

Now, this just gives me the inspiration to do something for the country (maybe not join the army). Do something, that would make every fellow citizen feel proud of calling me one among them.

ANOTHER FIRST

Today, the 18th of July, 2009 marks the completion of one month since I joined Robotix Lab Research Academy. This past one month has been an amazing experience for me. A whole new world that I see. No more a student, a professional now [:P]. In these 30 days, I have learnt a lot, met different people and a whole lot of other things are happening around me which just seems so wonderful. With all this happening, I' m only motivated to work harder by the day and start scaling peaks.

WATCH TV... REALLY?!!

Recently, the union Healt Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabhi Azad was talking to the press about population control. Its true that India is running ahead in the population race and may soon be the undisputed champion in this league of population explosion. I would certainly agree with Mr. Azad that population has to be controlled and it is sooner the better.

Mr. Azad was also giving some suggestions through the media as to how population can be controlled. His idea was to encourage people watch TV late in the night. He said "people will come back from work, watch TV late in the night almost until 12, feel tired and sleep. Thus, population growth can be controlled".

Really?!! Watching TV late into the night will help??!!!
The simple answer is NO. Why?
Late in the night every TV show would turn people horny. Resulting in a blast of population explosion. Watching TV late in the night would never be an apt solution for checking the population growth in our country.

Nice try Mr. Azad, come up with something else that would really check the population explosion.

KUDOS MR. SREEDHARAN

Sunday morning after the collapse of the pillar in the construction site of the railway track of the Delhi Metro, the chief heading the organisation of the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation without any hesitation took the onus on himself and stepped down immediately.

Mr. Sreedharan. one of the best engineers the country has ever seen had been involved some of the most successful railway projects in India, including the Kolkata Metro, the Konkan Railway project (which is undoubtedly is best work till date) and now recently the Delhi metro (which is half way through). He has also been asked to asist in the Chennai metro, Banglore metro and the metro rail to built in various other parts of our country.

Once the accident took place, Mr. Sreedharan resigned from his post immediately. This set an unprecedented all time high regards on the gentleman in everyone's hearts. Not just that, his act also set unparalleled work ethics ever seen in this country. After I had written on how important ethics was and how my friend thought otherwise, here is a man who tells the entire world what ethics actually means and not just by words but through his action. Kudos Mr. Sreedharan for your act!!!

Now, the Delhi State Govt. has rejected his resignation and has asked him to continue disposing his duties and rightly so. Even at the age of 77, if Mr. Sreedharan commands such high respect, he throughly deserves every single bit of it. Just goes to show the level of belief the authorities have on Mr. Sreedharan. It would only be possible to complete the Delhi Metro Rail project successfully and within time only if Sreedharan continues.

After whatever has happened, I say this from the bottom of my heart and I mean every word of it, "I WISH I COULD LEAD A LIFE AS MR. SREEDHARAN DID, SIMPLE, HONEST AND WELL RESPECTED. HE WILL BE MY ROLE MODEL HENCEFORT."

DISCIPLINE AND DETERMINATION

When people keep telling you that you need to lead a disciplined life right from your younger days, you just do not feel like listening to them. Things get even worse when you enter your adolescence, now you hate anybody telling you anything at all. You just want to lead your life the way you want to. Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, everybody seem senseless, friends become the world for the adolescents. You choose good friends, your life becomes glorious. Yous choose bad friends, your life becomes miserable. You go around have fun, hang out and do all kinds of stuff. You just would not care about your future, all that you want to do is enjoy and have fun and nothing more.

Finally when time comes, we learn our lesson the hard way. Only "DISCIPLINE AND DETERMINATION" can yield long term success in our career. Now, it is my turn to have learnt the lesson and here I am trying to change my life into a disciplined one filled with determination to achieve BIG TIME.

So, where does discipline come into my life and how? How is discipline related to determination?
I am determined to make it big in life and to make it big, I need to slog today. Only if I can take some kind of a small step today, sometime soon in my life I can take a GIANT LEAP to get closer to where I dream of being (I am not going to talk of my dreams here and get myself ridiculed. But, I am sure one day my dreams will come true). My work or me slogging off, should be well planned and executed. So, I decided to lead a disciplined life starting off with sleeping for not more than six hours a day. Make it a point to write my blog posts regularly. Cut down on the time spent on watching TV. Plan my activities on a day-to-day basis and have a proper self feedback system and keep monitoring the improvement in working towards my short term goals which would eventually lead to my final ambition.

Hope I have not bored you guys too much by writing my personal stuff here.

P.S. : There have been too many things off late on which i want to write about. But, I am just able to find enough time to do so. I wanted to write about Buchanan's new book, The Ayodhya controversy, The Godhra investigations, Swine flu and et. al. Very soon, one after another you would find me write about all these topics that I have mentioned above.

HERE IT GOES

WHO'S LINE IS IT ANYWAY?

I had mentioned earlier, that I would very soon write about the Delhi High Court Judgment on GAY SEX. So here it is, the post I was talking about.

Thursday, the Second of July,2009, was a memorable day for quite a lot living in Delhi. The Delhi High Court had come out with a pronouncement that "PRIVATE CONSENSUAL GAY SEX IS LEGAL". This "REMARKABLE JUDGMENT" (as it is called), made the members of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgenders) community extremely happy. Also, many NGOs that have been working for the cause of these secluded people of the society, were happy and welcomed the judgment. But, this judgment was not well received with the polity of our country. Even some other people thought, this judgment was against the culture of India and cannot be accepted.

Why agitate?
It is an agreed fact that it would be unknown to the world at large if two people of the same sex have sex in private and under consensus. Nobody on earth will come to know about this as long as the the couple involved wish to disclose whatever had happened. The immediate disadvantage of of restricting this, AIDS. Yes, it is a well known fact that AIDS is a STD and is found more often in homosexuals than others. When we try and suppress the LGBT community they will not come out in the open and ask for help when they are in a very sad position.

In many ways when seen, this judgment has to be welcomed. On the other hand, the court also needs to clearly define the punitive step that has to be taken in the case of absence of a consensus. This could possibly be a point that the politicians can take up rather than talk of culture and other crap. Oh!!! no!!! dont mistake me... I am perfectly straight, its just that i want the others also to be treated as humans. After all, there is not much anybody can do once they have oriented themselves in a particular way.

One more important point that i would like to make here. Earlier the Govt. decided to impose a BAN on movies based on homosexuality. For instance, the movie titled "GIRL FRIEND", a movie about a bisexual female and a lesbian. What will be the course of action of the Govt. in this direction?

P.S. : The Home Minister has finally now agreed that the issue is a constitutional issue and Govt. has to do something about it. Let us see what is at stake...

CHANGED

As i had mentioned in my previous post that i wanted a change in my blog layout, I have done just that today. My god, holding back my widgets was a serious ache. Anyways, now i have indeed managed to hold back my widgets and change the layout of my blog as well. As always said "ALL THAT'S WELL ENDS WELL".

There are other pages listed in my navigation bar. I would update then asap and make sure people reading my blog find more and more interesting reasons to read my blog. Kindly be cooperative and give me sometime to update all these pages.

TIME FOR CHANGE

It is high time there is some kind of change induced into my blog. For the very same purpose, I plan to have the layout of my blog changed. I plan to upload a CSS web template, of course after making a few modifications on the template. I guess i will have to learn CSS for doing that (I have no clue what so ever about CSS), at least enough CSS to edit whatever i want from the existing template. I desperately need some help from someone who is already familiar with CSS to help. I have downloaded a few web templates from here.

On an experimental basis i would be uploading a few templates on my blog before i finally zero in on any one of the templates. Please feel free to drop in with your comments on whatever you think of the templates. But, just keep one thing in mind, make your criticism constructive. Do not just leave behind some crapy comments just because you want to comment.

RIP JACKSON

The final service to the legend of pop music was carried out yesterday (7-7-09). The "king of pop" left us on 25th of June, 2009. The story of Jackson is truly the story of a man who has seen both the ups and downs of his life. The highs, when his albums kept breaking the records and the ultimate lows when his name was involved in certain unnecessary issues. For instance, the child molestation case, Jackson becoming bankrupt and having to sell the Neverland Ranch to Eminem.

It is also said that Michael Jackson had the copyrights for most of the Beatles numbers, unfortunately Jackson had to sell some of them due to his bankrupt situation. Now what will happen to the remaining Beatles numbers' copyrights? Wonder who is going to get hold of them.

All said and done about his controversies and his private life. At the end of the day, he was a true entertainer. Now that he is no more with us, Jackson forever will be missed.

THE HOLY PROFESSION PART - II

In another couple of days, my fever came down and i slowly came back to normal. I did not have typhoid after all (only showing symptoms [:P]). In the meanwhile, I was so excited about the new terminology used on me by the doc. There had been nobody before in my family who have had "DEXTRO - CARDIAC". But, folks back home seemed to underplay the incident and told me it was another money making venture the doctor had stepped into. They told me the doc would have an agreement with the lab people and he would get commission for every patient he sent there.

The Next week, we had a medical examination in our school. The bald man, we hated him for no particular reason. We just hated him. Each of us were waiting for our turn to be examined by the school doc and during the waiting time, we were discussing how we were going to snub this man (we do that every time). I felt, this time around i had the greatest opportunity to snub him. The one who snubbed him the best was considered the hero of the day and I was very much in the race for the "HERO OF THE DAY".

Finally my turn came, one of our teachers was sitting beside the doc so as to assist him. I sat beside the doc and he started his work. Placed his steth on my chest and then my back and finally finished this formality. Now, it was my turn [:P]. I told him that i had consulted a private doctor a week ago and he said my heart was not in my left. The doctor now stunned, started examinig me once again. he placed his steth on the left side of my chest and asked me "WHERE IS YOUR HEART?"
I replied, "Excuse me sir!!!"
He said again, "I DO NOT FIND YOUR HEART"
The teacher beside him started laughing for whatever he said.
(Yeah!!! certainly I'm a new kind of species, superior to the Human Beings and does not need any heart.)

The next day we (myself and my mom) went to the doctor and got the X-Ray and Scan list again (we had thrown it away, not taking his words seriously).

Finally, got the X-Ray and then we went to the scan center. The radiologist was appreciative of my doc and was telling me that he must certainly be an excellent doctor. I asked her why she was telling this and she replied, "Whatever he had been thinking was absolutely correct". She went on to say, "He wanted a scan of your lever, spline, appendix and pancreas apart from your heart of course. It so happens that his suspicion was spot on". She said, "All these organs are found exactly in the opposite place as found in a normal Human Being". She called it "NOT JUST DEXTRO CARDIAC. BUT YOU HAVE SITUS INVERSIS". "Err... wat?", my obvious reaction. She explained to me that one in 100,000 have their organs' positions interchanged. In such cases, chances one or max 2 organs may go missing. But it seems that i was lucky and had all the organs present.

This whole incident leaves me to wonder if all the doctors are responsible enough. I have this perception built in very strongly that doctors are to only make money.

Of course there are a few good men... [:)]

THE HOLY PROFESSION PART - I

The medical profession is considered to be a holy profession. Doctors are considered to be life saviors. At times, people regard them to have been sent down by the GOD himself to save their near and dear. But, are these "so-called" holy people discharging their duties responsibly enough? Is everyone in this profession the same? Are there a few good men? How many Doctors have you consulted in your life? Do they even diagnose properly? Listen to my personal experience...

I have consulted many Doctors in my life, starting from pediatricians (not just a single one), Doctors when i have fallen sick etc, etc. The number must stand somewhere around 10 to 15 Doctors by the time i was studying in 8th grade. I still remember this day, it was my school annual day, the bi-decinial year and the celebrations were grand. I wanted to be there. But, I could not. I was totally sick, my stomach gave me unusual problems and was running temperature as well. I usually do not prefer going to the doctor and taking the anti-biotics these people prescribe. This time i could not help but go to the doc.

The usual thing happend. The doc, placed his steth on my chest, back and asked me to breathe in and out slowly and then heavily. This went on for sometime and suddenly he came out with a question "have you not been to a doctor before?"

My mother and his wife were pretty good friends and she took the liberty to answer him with ease. She said "many before... but why???"
The doctor asked my mom again "Did they not tell you anything specific about him?"
"No doctor, why??", this time my mom was a bit worried.

Now the doctor made me lie down on the single bed that he had in his clinic and started examining me further as if to ensure he was a 100% correct about what he was going to say before he actually did.

Finally after some ten minutes, he spoke. He wrote down a list of X-Ray tests and Ultra Sonic Scans that had to be taken and handed them over to mother and then gave her another prescription with medicines and said "He is showing symptoms of Typhoid. I have given him medicines. Once the dosage is over, take these tests and get back."

My mother absolutely preplexed,"Is there any problem with my son Doctor?"
The doc replied, "No. Nothing of that sort, his heart is in his right hand side, he has a Dextro-Cardiac."
Needless to say, my mother had no idea of what that had meant or what consequences it would most likely have on me. She just said "Thank you doctor!!"

CONSENSUAL MY FOOT!!!

The recent story in the media making heads turn is the Shiney Ahuja case. The case registered against him is that he allegedly raped his maid. Through out this controversy, his wife Anupama was supporting him telling the media that he was innocent and was vicitimised for cheap publicity.

Now that the results of a few tests taken on both Shiney and his maid are out, which tells the maid has had a secual intercourse recently and also goes on to say there are no bruses on either of their bodies and eventually ruled out a RAPE. Media reports now say Shiney admited to have had a consensual sex with his maid. How cheap of you Shiney?!! Ridiculous, the people in Bollywood are loosing their nuts these days and everyone is behaving so very cheaply.

Many people whom i knew had high regards for Shiney Ahuja for his work in bollywood and especiallly after involving himself in a movie that was meant to create awareness against the spread of AIDS. Now i wonder, what will thse people think of this moroan? As far as Aunpama goes, I only have one thing to tell her, "I' M SO VERY SORRY FOR YOU!!".

MY FIRST SALARY

Today was the day when i drew my first salary. A meager amount only, it still had the power to make many faces smile, one too many happy and many happy tears roll down. It was indeed an experience that I' m so very proud of. This post is an account of what this means to myself and my family (though we really don't depend on my earnings for our living) and a big token of gratitude to the near and dear of mine, for all that they have done (be it big or small, today I' m what I' m because of each and every one of them).

Here is a tribute to some of the people who played a very important role in my life into shaping me to what I' m today.

My mother and grandparents
My father passed away when I was five. I do not remember much about the time I had shared with my father. But, my mother and my grandparents (paternal) filled in that space so beautifully that i never felt the gap that was felt behind my father's death. For eternity I am and will be indebted to them. As soon as i came back home, I gave my salary to my grandparents and as per tradition I touched their feet and took their blessings. They were very emotional and were very pleased with me. They wished a bright career. In fact, they almost started crying. It was now that I realised what life meant for them and I'm sure they expect much more from me. I hope i live up to their expectations.

My teachers
Its true that your mom is your first teacher, Including her I would like to thank each and everyone. Starting from my Kinder Garden teachers at Javahar Vidyalaya to the teachers at St. John's English School and Junior College, where I was molded into a well behaved Human Being (which i guess i still am :P), where I was reitereated with the fact that "wisdom is better than rubies". Vana Vani the place where I finished my high school, gave me the break of my life in more than one ways. Every student had his opportunity and I manged to grab mine with both hands and hold tightly and ensure I did my best and all taht would not have been possible withou the support of my teachers. Very specifically I would like to mention a couple of names from Vana Vani, Mrs. Lalitha (she was in charge of the robotics activities in the school) and Mr. Xavier (still the same man). There is a strange conincidence to this, i gained exposure and interest in the fiels of robotics because of them both and knowingly or unkonowingly I happened to meet both of them today (made my day, mentors of my life).

College teachers (exclusive)
They certainly deserve an exclusive space. They gave the finishing touches to what I' m today. Specific mentions to the Chemistry Professor, Prof. M.D.K. Kumaraswamy, he is a mentor to all of us, a person whom we can never forget. Our HOD, Prof D.K. Narayanan, he has inspired each and everyone of us and will continue to inspire everyone. Mrs. Pranati Katyal, she has harsh at times and we felt bad when we get shouted at by her. Now being in the corporate world, I have realised how importatnt it is to be organised and perfect. Despite being predominantly at the receiving end from her, I would like to thank her whole heartedly for making me a perfetionist (only problem though, I dont want to shout at people working under me at any point in time :P). How can one forget Mr. N.C. Nayak, my project guide. He was in a way responsible for the sucess of our fnal year project which landed me this job. Of course to all other teachers as well, for their small but important role.

My friends
Vinay, has been close to me since 11th std. and we continue to enjoy a good friendship. A very supportive person. We complement each other and work exceptionally well together.
Prashanth, a person whom i can turn to when in dilemma. He helps me sort out the moral issues that i have. A seriously cool dude i must say.

so ya.. the list can go on and on but if i dont publish this post now i would b going into the forth of july.

P.S. : cant forget another couple of close friends, Sona, Himsa, Gokul, Kalpana, Premika, et. al.

My Aunts, Uncles and Cousins
There are two sisters to my father, one elder and one younger (they all come under the immediate family to our house). Amongst us five cousins, I' m the last (leading to obvious pampering). My uncles and aunts care for me so very much, they have always been to guide me and help me make decisions (a decision made in my house is always a collective one, includes the opinion of every close family aide). My cousins are just awesome. Lavanya, Karthik, Sridevi and Sakthi, we are more like friends than any cousins. There is a small fact that I would like to give you people here, whenever we five have gone out to a restraunt together, in less than three the restraunt closes down (a charm that we carry?!!!). So, would anybody like to invite us to their restraunt?

My mother's family is pretty huge, she has five brothers and two sisters. People so good, honest and humble, not very easily found these days. They have never said the word "NO" to anything that i have asked. Obviously, the number of cousins (maternal) is also big, five brothers and six sisters. When we all get together, its really a noisy atmosphere [:P].

My grandmom's family comes as an extended part of our family and a great source of inspiration to me. All so very caring and lovely people.

I' m really a lucky kid to have support and encouragement on whatever I do. I really am lucky.

WHERE TO DRAW THE LINE?!

Ethics or Darwin, a post by Srinath had the gears in my head running at full speed. Ethics or Survival? Where to draw the line when it comes to doing the right thing? Who decides, anyway?

You're a businessman. A sales man. You need to sell the product to put food on the table for your family. Customer demands to know if there's a guarantee. You know the product doesn't work a single day beyond 5 months. You say

"There is no official guarantee, sir. But it will definitely work for six months, sir. Maybe more. I personally guarantee you that it will work for six months." A white lie. A hundred bucks. Dinner for a day. Smiles in the Family. And its not blatant cheating. And who knows? Maybe it WILL work for six months. Not your problem. After this sale, it’s between the Company and the customer. You're out of the equation.

You are an entrepreneur. You worked your way up from down in the dumps to a respectable position today. A big project is on the line. You send in your quotations. You offer a fair price, quality work, and a reputation to back you up. But the minister hands over the project to another guy cuz he gave a coupla grand to the minister under the table. If you had done the same thing, this woulda been the biggest project of your life so far. You'd have earned a sizeable profit. Better life for your wife and children. And all it takes is a little compromise on bloody ethics.

Is there any reward for being honest and morally correct? Apart from a good conscience? It’s all about give and take. If I paid a crore to become a doctor, I’d prescribe unnecessary tests and scans to earn my money back. Who are you to question me?

There are situations where you don’t have a choice. There are other situations where there is no pressure or lack of choice but you decidedly do the wrong thing. A non-corrupt world is unrealistic. Thing is, there is no standard code of ethics. What’s absolutely unacceptable to you might be slightly permissible for me. What you think is right need not be right to this entire world. To each his own. And who is to question me but my own conscience? And what if my conscience is clear inspite of all the WRONG things I've done? What do you do when a killer is remorseless?

Is there a line that can be drawn? Is a white lie allowed?

Where should we draw the line?

Giving myself a punishment for not having written yesterday, I have decided to write a third blog post for today. Myself and my friend Vinay have come up with a new experimenting series on our respective blogs. It has been a good suggestion given by Vinay (i still have apprehensions over the fact whether this was his own idea or a plagiarized one. I' m sure every single person in his life would have come up with this problem at some point or the other, whether to survive in this highly competitive world or to follow simple professional ethics and wait for goodness to happen in their life whenever it has to. I' m no different, it is really very tempting when you have an opportunity to come out of the nut-shell which keeps you from doing what you wanted. In such cases what will you do? Break the formalities and crack the nut? Or, follow ethics and wait for your number (par mera number kab ayega?!! [:P])

One of my friends was once was telling me, he would not mind taking any route to get to the top be it even the dirtiest as long as he is ensured of getting whatever he wants. I have a strong opinion against that, I feel this mentality is the reason why we all live in an absolutely corrupt world. "THE RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR GET POORER", a dialogue from a famous tamil movie but how true?! If today, we are blaming the system and calling it corrupt world and a world where money and muscle alone dominates, what could probably be the reason? Looking back, do we not see ourselves to be the sole cause for all this chaos happening in this world? "SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST", I would certainly agree. But, Charles Darwin did not mean corrupt this beautiful world and make it a place for all the unwanted and unnecessary.

Come what may, my belief system will never be shaken. I have belief and faith that this world would most certainly see a better tomorrow. "THE WIND OF CHANGE", would certainly blow one day "AND THE CHILDREN OF TOMORROW", will face it with immense happiness. Only thing I would hope for in the midst of all this would be, all this should happen in my life time. So, I can go into eternity with the belief that people in this world have finally realised what is important.

I feel extremely guilty for not keeping up to my promises that i had made earlier. A week ago i made a promise that i would write a post everyday and I could not keep up my words. I could not write a post yesterday. Owing to the turn of events over the last few days, it seems that my life is getting busier and busier by the day. It seems like as though keeping up to the speed at which time is rushing now is going to be very difficult. Nevertheless, I have decided to compete with time and come out with flying colours. After all, I' m very young and if at all i want to make it big in life I would have to slog my way through (which I' m determined to do). At the end of the day, I would like to give no excuses at all for not writing a post yesterday, instead I' m going to make it a point that i compensate for me not writing a post yesterday by writing another post this evening.

RANDOM SLUMDOG

Last night SONY PIX played out Slumdog Millionaire, the multi Oscar, multi BAFTA and the multi Golden Globe award winner. A story based on India winning accolades on the global stage is somthing every Indian should be proud about (some may argue the movie depicts the negative side of our country, that is unfortunate though). This one topic that I should written about long time ago when the movie created big ripples on the world stage. But, I could not find time then owing to many reasons. Nevertheless, through this post i will write whatever i wanted to write then.

I do not wish to brag about this movie as a purely Indian movie and do not wish to go back into the sad debate through this post. What i wanted to tell was something totally different, something that i have written about in the recent past, 'RANDOMNESS AND THE CHAOS THEORY'.

Chaos theory is evident in every single scene of this movie. Right from taking Amithab Bachan's autograph, to facing the the colt 45, even to the extent of having somewhere learnt about the three musketeers. Why should Jamal Malik alone get connected to the answer the preliminary stages of the game show through IVRS feature over the telephone? Why were most of the questions asked to him, have given him some kind of an experience in his real life? And questions can be posed on and on. Some call it miracle and he was chosen by the GOD himself et al. But, it simply is randomness and chaotic, could happen to anyone. On the particular day it was to happen to Jamal Malik and it just happend.

P.S. : There are more randomness and chaos to this movie off the screen than on-screen. Danny Boyle had been nominated for the academy awards several times before but won only for this. A. R. Rahman has composed many good numbers and delivered outstanding albums earlier (including english) but had to win an oscar only for this. And this would go on and on... "RANDOMNESS AND CHAOS IS EVERYTHING ON EARTH"

AH!! TIME HAS COME

First things first, I have finally managed to hit the 1000 mark and as I'm writing this post my hit counter reads 1021. Man why would not I be so happy [:)]. From the i resumed blogging on 4th June when my hit counter read 759 to reading 1021 on 27th June, an increase of a little less than 300 unique hits in a little more than 20 days gives me immense happiness (happyness I should say [:P]). Also, the next factor giving me happiness is the fact that my blog followers have literally doubled since June 4 (3 followers to 6 is not a great increase. Nevertheless, it is still a double).

Next, it is that time of the year again when we (close blogging circle) actually find out our respective Page Rank and boast about it.

Early in the morning around 7:20 AM, my friend pinged me on GTalk and the following conversation happened between us.

Actually the reason for me to panic at that moment was MJ was another person very close to Prashanth and Prashanth considered him a mentor for the rest of his life. MJ, if you are reading this post I am very sorry for what had happened this morning and i hope and pray that you live long.

And as far as Michael Jackson (or Mikhail Jackson should i say) goes, he has invited controversy even in his death. That is certainly very sad, hope all this controversy dies down very soon.

At the end of it all i guess it is time for all of us to pay our last tributes to the legend and "MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE".

P.S. : It is said that Michael Jackson had the copyrights for most of the BEATLES numbers, he had all and unfortunately had to sell some of them due to his bankruptcy. Now what will happen to the remaining Beatles numbers' copyrights?!!!

TIME IS FLYING!!!

Time is flying these days and at super sonic speed. This post I' m writing mainly to announce that it has been one whole week (as on 25-06-09, i took up my job at robotixlab research academy on 18-06-09) since I took up 'my new first job'. This one whole week has been a week filled with meeting new people learning loads of new stuff and understanding what i really know and where is the gap. This one week was really awesome and if this is the sign of things to come I guess I' m most certainly going to have a ball.

Apart from all the learning part and getting myself trained as to become a permanent part of this organisation, there have been loads of other things happening as well. I' m not going to reveal much of all that as this is a public forum and anytime my boss may actually have a look into what I have written here. So yes in short, we are having fun when our boss is not around [;)].

P.S. : It is not going to be long before i HIT the 1000 mark and I' m seriously looking forward to it.

I have and this is my story.
On April 18th, 2009. I opened my E-Mail as usual to check for any new mails in the morning and I had a surprise waiting for me on my inbox. An E-Card from 123 greetings sent by someone named Ramaswamy Ramakrishnan, the name did not ring a bell in my head. Wondering who it could be, i decided to open the E-Card and see what greeting was in store for me. Opening the link and lookingh at what was in store in for me, my moth split wide open. I was taken by a shock. I was awe struck. You want to know why? This is why.....

So, now i decided that i will mail this stranger back telling him that I' m not the person he is looking for and then following that this is what happened....[ :(]

"These posts would follow no particular chronological order, it would be absolutely random." This is what i had said in my last post. So, decided to start off with a random post. Rather, a post on randomness itself. Off late, myself and a pretty close friend of mine keep talking of randomness and its effect on us.

Now, u all may wonder what the hell is randomness and what the hell am I talking about?!!!!
Ever seen the movie Dasavatharam? The Kamal Hasan Starer... The movie begins by Kamal talking about the CHAOS theory. Something that is being widely accepted in today's westeren world. The Chaos theory talks about every event to be occuring in this world to be absolutely random but, there is a some connection between the occuring of every event with one another. General public at large (belivers) assume all this to happen because of some super natural power, while others call chaos and randomness to be the reason for all this to happen.

To a certain extent i believe in the chaos theory and the main reason for me talk about all this right now is because of the effect randomness has had on me (both good and bad). Off late, good things are happening in my life and at some point there are kind of indiacations that somehting that i dont' desire is going to happen somewhere down the line. The main indication for this adversary is the randomness behind the occurance of certain events which at the present is got no effect on me but i am afraid the inevitable is more likely to happen (those really close to me and understand me are sure to understand what i mean here).

P.S. : sorry folks could not update my blog this morning as promised owing to power problems in my place. Hope it does not happen regularly.

ONE A DAY!!

I have made it a point to write a blog post everyday. I would get really busy in the day as I would to go work and come back only around 6:30 in the evening. So every morning before 8:00 I would have most certainly updated my blog.

As I had mentioned earlier i would surely fill in the gap about the one and a half years that i left you people in darkness about what had been happeneing in my life when i was in exile from blogging. These posts would follow no particular chronological order, it would be absolutely random (depending totally on what I wish to throw light on first [:P]).

Also I would like to have suggestions from you people about starting my new short story blog, whether to have a wordpress blog or another in blogspot.

ON A LIGHTER NOTE

Four years have gone by and my engineering is over. Looking back it was like yesterday that i went along with my mom to the college and paid the fee. Today I took up all the old files and wanted to clean up my cupboard and found something really interesting and funny as well. It was a letter sent out by the college principal to all the students intimating them about the reopening date for the first year students and the associated orientation program (some crappy meeting between the college people and the parents).

The letter goes like this

Secondly, biggest of all, "ROUND THE CAMPUS", ya sure ROOOOUND the campus, a campus that is spread over some 500 acers of land and has some 1,00,000 sq. feet of built up area...

It just makes me wonder if i actually have covered the entire area even after studying there for four years.

P.S. : After a serious issue preceding this post and a lot more serious issued that are soon to follow, i tought it would be nice to give my readers a lighter issue.

EXERCISING FRANCHISE

The world's largest democratic exercise just got over (a little less than a month ago), none other than the 15th general elections of our country. Organizing the elections free and fare, is a responsibility held by the Election Commission of India and they honestly did come out with a wonderful job (barring a few exceptions of course), a fact that would make every Indian proud. All said and done, there are still a few apprehensions that I have over the conduct of elections. Through this post here, I would like express my ideas.

1. According to the constitution of India, every citizen of India has the right to exercise his franchise when above 18 years of age. So from where does the entire concept of having a voter’s list and the people whose names are included in the list alone can vote arise? The corporation, municipality or the panchayath is already supposed to have the accounts of the people residing within the limits as the case may be. Besides, the question of people of voting more than once (I’m talking of the genuine people, not some anti-social elements whose sole intention is to bring their leader to power) also does not arise as a permanent mark is made on the left index finger of the voter.

2. When a person shifts from one place to another (as in one city or village to another), the possibility for which is pretty high does not have the right to vote or even get his name registered in the voter’s list until he has resided in the new place for more than six months. Are these people not the citizens of our country? Do they not have the right to choose their govt.? A suitable solution has to be reached on this issue.

3. I’ m very ashamed to say this. Many of those citizens of our country whose names were included in the voter’s list did not bother to exercise their franchise. When asked they give a three fold answer. First of all, the scorching sun, second being, elections being conducted during the vacation period and finally, no eligible person to vote for. People should always remember excursing their franchise is the greatest responsibility in democracy and they should whole heatedly fulfill this responsibility for the people in govt. and bureaucracy to function effectively and efficiently.

I have a few suggestions to improve the electoral process in our country, to make it sophisticated and foolproof. To check out what the possible solutions I may have do make sure to remain tuned in to this space regularly.

P.S.: Mumbai, I’ m very unhappy with you. After 26/11, when you did not want to be called resilient anymore I thought you would come out in large numbers to vote for a change and that was not to be. Perhaps, you have already forgotten the martyrs of that day who sacrificed their lives to save many others. Shame on you Mumbai.

Off late the facebook quizes are gaining popularity, the main reason for the increased popularity amongst myself and my friends is that we are done with our college and we find ourselves to be absolutely jobless. In fact even to the extent where my friend once said "THE NUMBER OF FACEBOOK QUIZES TAKEN IS DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO THE LEVEL OF VETTINESS OF THAT PERSON."

After having absconded from the blogosphere without a word and being in exile for over almost two years now, i guess i deserve to apologise to everyone on the blogosphere. Now that I'm totally vetti, I guess i would almost become a regular story on the bloging world. Over these past two years that i went in exile (from the bloging world of course), quite a lot of things have happened. I will put up my version of all the things that have happened on the blog slowly one by one.

Also now i have plans of starting another blog for me wherein i would only put up short stories (yeah!!! all of a sudden i have become an author, how it happened i will surely let you folks know). As and when i start off this new blog, i will keep you folks posted.

And ya, i remember once i finished my last post the hit counter read something around 500 but today it reads 759. I would like to thank all these people who have continued to read my blog, thanks a lot. Also i now have three followers for my blog, thank you all three.

WHY THE NUCLEAR DEAL?

Our country today is in the midst of a major power crisis. When India first approached the USA with regards to want of Uranium for our nuclear power plants about 18 months ago, there was a severe power shortage in the capital itself with unscheduled power cuts ranging for about 4 – 6 hours a day.

Now more recently, our State Government has gone public with the statistics that Tamil Nadu is short of 1000 MW of power a day. This deficiency comes despite the fact that our State Government is purchasing power from the West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Andra Pradesh Governments for Rs. 50 crores. So, taking all these into consideration and accepting the fact that we are short of uranium and we need to run seventeen uranium based nuclear power pants (www.npcil.nic.in) across the country, I would say this deal is very important to our country.

Some may argue, despite buying uranium from the NSG (Nuclear Suppliers Group) the nuclear power that is going to be generated ten years down the line will account for a meager 5% of our requirements, imagine what difficulties we will have to face in the absence of this 5% power that is required. The nuclear power is cheaper and cleaner than thermal power generated on any given day as long as the nuclear waste is disposed carefully and safely.

Some others may say thorium reactors are coming up, thorium is found abundantly in our country, then why go for uranium? Research is going on to build thorium reactors and would easily take another forty – fifty years to operationalise them. For forty odd years we cannot be dependent on something that is most likely to give us power, for the immediate requirements there is no choice but get uranium. Also after the thorium reactors begin functioning, we need not shut down the uranium reactors, they can still supply power for us.

In the future, history will only haunt us if we don’t sign this deal today.

Well all you should have heard the words Testify and Testimonial, ever wondered how these words came into being? Well here is the story behind the origin of these words.

In Netherlands (ancient days) there was a practice in the courts, men didn't swear on any holy book like the Bible. Instead they were asked to swear on their Testis or Testicles (the male reproductive organ) while being prosecuted. And thats how people were later asked to Testify and give their Testimonial on people in the courts.

Now i have no clue if any kind of operation was performed on people if they were found to be lying, but this is how these words came into origin.

After dissolving the IHF(Indian Hockey Federation) the team did well to come second in the Azlan Shah hockey tournament, their best in the last 12 years. The Indian team managed to get bronze in the last two editions, improving by a position this time around. This successful outing has come in a great time for the Indian hockey, after their embarrassing performance which cost from playing in the Bejing Olympics.

Also hearty congratulations to Manchester United Football Club, who did the double of wining the UEFA champions league and the English Premiere League. Sir Alex Ferguson deserves credit for the spectacular performance of this young squad, he has won ten premiership titles and two champions league titles (including this one) with Man-Utd.

The musical genius A.R. Rahman is back in business by having two of his Hindi film albums released within the span of 1 week. Me being one of his greatest fans have got my hands on the albums already (in fact I' m listening to the song titled Meherban sung by the maestro himself from the movie ADA while writing this post). The movies include ADA directed by Ahmad Tanvir and Jane Tu Ya Jaane Na directed Abbas Tyrewala and produced by Aamir Khan. As of now the title songs of both albums seems impressive apart from that the song titled "KABHI KABHI" from the movie Jane Tu Ya Jaane Na seems to be catching on to me like some kind of virus.

And this certainly holds good for one of the most influential and most powerful man on earth THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES Mr. GEORGE W. BUSH, how many times have we seen him goof-up his speeches, how many bloopers has he been involved with... and despite all this he does not get a sense of what he should be talking and when, such is the case now. Mr. Bush gives a statement to the press
"I HAVE STOPPED PLAYING GOLF FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS AS A MARK OF RESPECT TO THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE LOST THEIR SOLDIER RELATIVES IN THE IRAQ WAR".

I say "BLOODY HELL IF YOU ARE SO DAMN CONCERNED ON ALL THE SOLDIERS, WHY THE HELL THEN WAGE A WAR?". When the hell will this man learn how to talk and when to talk... Thank god the term of the world's greatest misanthropist president is coming to an end.

Iam a third year engineering student at an anna university affiliated college. recently my sixth semester exams concluded and i would like to share a special experience i had from this sem exams. I had a course called "SOLID STATE DRIVES" and in this paper there was a problem which goes like

14. (a) (ii) A 7mw three phase 12KV star connected 6 pole 50 Hz 0.9 power factor synchronous motor has Xs=10 ohms and Rs=0. The rated field current is 40 Amps. The Machine is controlled by variable frequency control at constant V/f ratio upto the base speed and at constant V above the base speed. Determine

(1) Torque and
(2) The field current for the rated armature current 750 rpm and 0.8 leading power factor.

and such blunders can happen only in anna university.

P.S. : for those who dint get it,
(1) check the bold characters in the first line of the question
it is impossible to manufacture a machine that takes in 7 milli watts power at a rated voltage of 12 kilo volts.

(2) check the bold characters in no. of determine where the rated armature current is 750 rpm, sad these people knew little that speed is rated in rpm and current is rated in Amps.

So it has been a week since i started bloging and so far i have received 110 hits on my blog..... so this post is meant to thank all those of u who have spared ur time to visit my blog n standby all the crap i have posted on my blog......

n now exams r round the corner n i guess i have to take time off bloging and start studying.... this bloody university requires me to study (especially i have been motivated to study after the splendid results the university people gave me generously last sem....)

The summer has not yet begun and the frequency of power cuts in place is goin up already..... the reason y this s happenin have u ever thought bout this???? it s said that around 70% of the power generated s lost in the form of transmission losses...... but u think this explanation s sufficient enough to enjoy the power cuts...... but the fact remains that a maximum of only 5% of energy can b lost during the process of transmission........ so where s the remaining generated power go????? this question will remain unanswered until these power cuts stop.... so dont u think some awareness has to b created to ensure the power generated reaches the rite place it has to..... support the cause.....
